What is a holistic facial?
At Pacific Touch NYC, we are dedicated to helping clients find the root cause of any problems they are experiencing with their skin health – rather than just addressing their symptoms with “band-aid” solutions as conventional facials tend to do. We accomplish this through an in-depth consultation followed by customized treatment plans and dietary and lifestyle recommendations that support optimum skin health. Beyond providing a custom-designed treatment for each client, we routinely examine the client’s diet, lifestyle, and other factors, such as stress, that may be affecting skin health, and we provide advice and guidance in these areas, based on comprehensive intake and follow-up.
How often should I get a facial?
For optimum results we recommend a monthly facial. This will aid in the skin cell turnover process, which slows down as we age, resulting in tired, sallow-looking skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and congested pores. Note: We recommend regular monthly facials for anyone who wants to achieve optimum skin health.
What can I expect during a facial treatment?
Facials at Pacific Touch NYC are completely customized to meet the needs of your unique skin and help you attain your skincare goals. We begin with an in-depth consultation, including a “skin history,” to ensure that the treatment plan we develop gives you the results you want, while ensuring that you feel comfortable through all stages of the process. Depending on the client’s individual needs, a facial may also include one or more of the following processes: deep pore cleansing, exfoliation, Ultrasonic cleansing, necessary extractions, LED Light Therapy, High Frequency Treatment, Facial Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Corrective Masques, Professional Serums, and Corrective Peels.
Will my skin be red or irritated after my facial?
With sensitive skin types and after certain types of treatments, a slight redness is normal after a facial – especially given the exfoliating effect of many treatments; however, this redness is usually temporary. We always discuss possible outcomes with the client both before and after the treatment to make sure that you have no surprises and are not worried about any side effects arising from your treatment. You will always be fully informed of the expected outcomes prior to any treatment. Of course, since we are working on human beings, there is always the rare chance of an allergic reaction or irritation from a specific product. However, we always go to great lengths to prevent any side effects by undertaking with you an in-depth consultation before the treatment, as well as a comprehensive follow-up post-treatment.
Can I receive a facial waxing, such as an eyebrow or lip wax, on the same day as my facial?
Yes, as long as you do not want a corrective peel; however, if you do, then you should wait 5 to 7 days between waxing and undergoing a peel. For facials that do not include a corrective peel, for the utmost comfort and safety of your skin, waxing is always done first, prior to your facial. Any areas that were waxed will be carefully avoided during your facial exfoliation so as not to further irritate the skin.
Can I get a facial if I have had injectables (e.g., Botox or fillers)?
You can have a facial after having had injectables; there are varying opinions, however, on the advisable “wait time.” In general, to ensure safety, you should wait at least 7 to 10 days. However, it is always best to seek advice from the healthcare professional who administered the injectable as to when it is appropriate to book your facial.
Can I get a facial when I’m pregnant?
For many woman facials are a tremendous help during pregnancy as skin can go a little “haywire” during this time due to the massive hormonal and dietary changes occurring through the duration of their pregnancy. A facial offers a great chance to get off your feet and is a marvelous self-esteem booster; it’s also a great way to relieve stress and nurture yourself. You should always inform your practitioner if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, since there are certain skincare product ingredients and treatment machines that cannot be used on pregnant women. If there is any doubt, it is best of course to seek the advice of your doctor.
Can men get facials too?
A fast-growing number of men now realize that facials are very beneficial when they have such concerns as breakouts, dryness, flakiness, and other irritating skin conditions; many men get facials to help heal the irritation and redness from shaving. Incidentally, contrary to popular belief, it is best if you do not shave on the day of your facial, since this can cause further skin irritation.
Will a series of facials help provide a solution to a serious skin condition, such as Acne?
